Report: PM asks govt to consider exempting e-cinemas from VAT
MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered several ministries to think of exempting online cinemas from value-added tax (VAT), now at 20%, business daily Vedomosti reported on Tuesday on its website.
The order was given to the Finance Ministry, the Culture Ministry, and the Digital Development Ministry and must be executed by June 5, a government spokesperson said.
Online cinemas have been asking officials for tax allowances for several years already, and the question was raised at a meeting of a film industry development council on March 15 by e-cinema Ivi founder Oleg Tumanov.
